Hi! I'm RR
Rañeses

I'm a government affairs specialist based
in the Philippines and I work with the
public, private, and non-profit sectors
in bridging information gaps to advance
shared goals for enhancing the capacities
of communities, particularly in local
and underdeveloped areas.

I have a passion for promoting a deep understanding of what happens in public affairs to better form opinions and develop strategies for engaging institutions, decision-makers and socio-political processes.

What I Do

I am presently employed full-time as the government relations manager of a leading courier service provider in the Philippines. On my free time, I am engaged by government and non-government organizations for commissioned work. I also develop information and advocacy materials for civics education.

Lectures & trainings

Delivering engaging talks and seminar workshops are among my key strengths and passion – anchored on my decade-long career as a university lecturer.

Research & report writing

Gathering and analyzing information and rendering them into pre-defined or custom-developed templates is a skill I developed doing commissioned work for business intelligence firms and government agencies.

Facilitation & consultations

Developing frameworks and programmes for dialogues or meetings as well as facilitating and documenting them are among my top requested services honed by my experience across the national and local executive and legislative branches of the Philippine government.

Passion for public life

I fell in love with politics the first time I watched a live broadcast of the Philippine Senate proceedings on the government’s television channel. I think I was around 9 or 10 at that time. Watching the presiding officer bang his gavel to call an increasingly tense debate into order sent me at that time an electrifying shiver of excitement  that still does today each time I attend a formal government proceeding – be it in national legislative chambers or in remote city or town council halls.

What initially drew me into politics was what I felt, a magnificent moment of standing in front of an audience and captivating them with words and speeches. Later, as I studied political science I would learn that this was the classical foundation of public life: the desire to be seen and heard as the political theorist Hannah Arendt would put it. My post-academia professional experience would eventually confirm this and would become key to navigating the murky waters of stakeholder engagement and brokering cooperation between competing interests.
